At that time, the real masters were not so much people as water creatures, led by the Queen of the Danube, wealthy water sprites who counted their little souls every day, or the mischievous devil who would crawl out of his lair to harm people and play tricks on them. It was mainly the fishermen from beneath the castle hill – Šlosberg – who had to contend with them, but then came the brave young man Jakub, leading a group of pilgrims from a distant land. He settled in the town, decided to build churches, towers and ramparts, and set about battling the devil.
