„NIGHT OF MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES IN THE REGIONAL MUSEUM IN PREŠOV“ will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026 o 15.00 - 20.00 in the old town school building in Prešov.
The programme will also take place at the branches of the Regional Museum in Stropkov and Hanušovce nad Topľou.
Admission to the events will be free at all branches.
A varied programme full of exhibitions, guided tours, expert lectures, creative activities and accompanying events for children and adults is prepared for visitors. The main attraction of the evening in Prešov will be an exclusive exhibition of restored portraits of the Imperial-Royal Majesties together with an expert lecture on their restoration.

Visitors can expect exhibitions, guided tours, expert lectures, creative workshops and experiential activities for children and families.
The main programme will take place in the exhibition space of the museum at 139 Hlavna Street in Prešov, in the old town school building. The programme will start at 15.00 with the opening ceremony in the hall on the first floor and will traditionally be attended by M. Kobelák Private Primary Art School. Its pupils will present their artistic abilities in musical and dance performances.
The museum's current exhibitions will be open to visitors throughout the event. The exhibition Dialogue of Generations: Sculpture and Painting in the Gibala Family presents the work of the prominent Slovak sculptor Fraň Gibala in conjunction with the paintings of his daughter. The programme will also include creative workshop for children, where young visitors will be able to try their hand at sculpture and painting and create their own artwork.
The exhibition Significant Personalities of Prešov's Musical and Cultural Life brings closer the personalities of Prešov's brass band music Ján Pöschl and Viliam Tarjányi. Through panels, archival materials and authentic objects, it offers a glimpse of their legacy and importance to the cultural life of the region. The programme will also include guided tours at 16.00 and 18.00 led by the author of the exhibition Igor Lazorik.
The main attraction of the evening will be an exclusive display of newly restored portraits of the Imperial Royal Majesties of the House of Habsburg. Historian of the Regional Museum in Prešov Nikoleta Latta together with the restorer Ivana Ramáčová will present the personalities of the royal family and will also introduce the public to the demanding process of portrait restoration during expert lectures at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
