The event will start at 10.00 and last until 18.00.
The Pottery Day is a traditional event held annually at the beginning of the main tourist season and is dedicated to the presentation of the potter's craft and its living forms. This year, the event will take place in a limited format due to the ongoing reconstruction of the site, but visitors will not be deprived of an authentic experience.
The programme will offer demonstrations of traditional production techniques, such as modelling and spinning on the potter's wheel, presented by experienced lecturers from the Bardejov Atelier clay - Kreativec OZ. The event will also include a demonstration of the firing of Bardejov pottery in a pottery kiln, in the form of wood firing, which is one of the most attractive elements of the programme.
O 15.00 a presentation entitled „Bardejov pottery - a living tradition: the Tomeček family pottery workshop in Dubí near Koprivnica“ will take place, together with the presentation of the catalogue of the family workshop objects.
Bardejov pottery is an important and still living part of the cultural heritage of the region. As one of the few continuously preserved traditions in Slovakia, it persists thanks to to the master Ján Frankovič and his pupils, who today work in various workshops and continue to develop and pass on centuries-old craftsmanship. It is this continuity and lively transfer of knowledge that makes Bardejov pottery a unique phenomenon.
The event offers visitors a unique opportunity to get to know traditional craftsmanship directly in an authentic environment and to meet its contemporary practitioners.
