In September we will commemorate the personality Eugen Bárkány, with which the first Jewish museum in Slovakia is intrinsically linked based just in Prešov almost 100 years ago. We will tell how he went from a poor boy to a renowned builder. We will see the house that housed the first Jewish Museum and the place where it was moved in the 1930s. We will learn about the fate of the museum during and after the war and remember the victims of the Holocaust. We will end our exploration in the Orthodox synagogue, home to both the Jewish Museum and the Barkany Collection of Judaica, presenting the life of the Jewish community from birth to death.
You too can get to know the fate of Eugen Bárkány and the Prešov Jewish Museum if you come on Sunday 14 September 2025 at 15:00* Before Tourist Information Centre Región Šariš at Hlavna 67 in Prešov. Accompanied by Andrea Sivaničová.
Realized with financial support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
