A 14. sz\u00e1zadban a v\u00e1ros biztos\u00edtotta a templomot a k\u00e1rmelit\u00e1knak, akik 1288-ban \u00e9rkeztek Lengyelorsz\u00e1gb\u00f3l Pre\u0161ovba. I. Leopold uralkod\u00f3 1661-es d\u00f6nt\u00e9se \u00e9rtelm\u00e9ben a templom \u00e9s a kolostor a k\u00f6zeli Ni\u017en\u00e1 \u0160ebastov\u00e1b\u00f3l sz\u00e1rmaz\u00f3 ferences rendhez ker\u00fclt. A pre\u0161ovi Franti\u0161ek Klobu\u0161ick\u00fd b\u00e1r\u00f3 \u00e9s a szolyvai \u0160\u00f3\u0161ov\u00e1 b\u00e1r\u00f3n\u0151 anyagi seg\u00edts\u00e9g\u00e9nek k\u00f6sz\u00f6nhet\u0151en hamarosan megkezd\u0151d\u00f6tt az eredetileg g\u00f3tikus templom fel\u00faj\u00edt\u00e1sa. A teljes homlokzatot k\u00e9t oldaltoronnyal a r\u00f3mai Ill G\u00e9s jezsuita templom mint\u00e1j\u00e1ra alak\u00edtott\u00e1k \u00e1t.  A ferences templom d\u00e9li r\u00e9sz\u00e9ben, a Szent Antal olt\u00e1r k\u00f6zel\u00e9ben \u0151rzik a f\u00f6ldi maradv\u00e1nyait Ter\u00e9zia Klobu\u0161ick\u00e1\u00e9val egy\u00fctt. A fel\u00faj\u00edtott templomot 1735-ben szentelt\u00e9k fel. 1888. december 3-\u00e1n, a k\u00f6lts\u00e9ges fel\u00faj\u00edt\u00e1si munk\u00e1latok ut\u00e1n egy m\u00e1sodik t\u0171zv\u00e9sz t\u00f6rt ki, amelyben mindk\u00e9t karcs\u00fa templomtorony le\u00e9gett, \u00e9s csak egy torz\u00f3 maradt meg.
