Lys\u00e1 near Drienica<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the most notable peaks for hikers the \u010cergov Mountains<\/a> and, at the same time, among the most popular day-trip destinations in the area Sabinova<\/a> a Pre\u0161ov<\/a>. The peak reaches an altitude of\u00a01,067.9 metres above sea level.<\/strong>\u00a0and is the southernmost of the \u010cergov peaks over 1,000 metres. It is situated on a side ridge extending south-west from the \u010cergov Saddle, within the cadastral areas of the villages of Drienica and Olejn\u00edkov.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Views from the summit of Lys\u00e1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the main attractions is panoramic views of the \u010cergov Mountains and the surrounding mountainous areas<\/strong>. From the summit, you can see the main \u010cergov ridge, Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Javorina and Min\u010dol. On a clear day, the Tatra Mountains can also be seen in the distance. To the north, there is a view of the mountain ridge around Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Javorina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit also offers an interesting blend of natural scenery and the remnants of the site\u2019s long history of use for recreation and winter sports. The ski resort\u2019s facilities and the top station of the ski lift are located nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hiking to Lys\u00e1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are several hiking routes leading to Lys\u00e1. From Drienice<\/strong> An asphalt road leads to the Lys\u00e1 Pass, and from the pass a green-marked hiking trail continues to the summit. The summit can also be reached from the direction of the \u010cergov Pass. A blue hiking trail leads to Lys\u00e1 from the Drienica ski resort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The climb up Lys\u00e1 is not difficult, and the area is ideal for day trips all year round. In summer, it is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists, whilst in winter the surrounding area is primarily associated with winter sports.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ski Lys\u00e1 and things to do in the surrounding area<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Lys\u00e1 peak forms part of a leisure and sports complex Drienica \u2013 Lys\u00e1<\/strong>, which lies at the foot of the southern slopes of \u010cergov. The ski resort offers opportunities for winter recreation, and there are also trails in the surrounding area for hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing and ski mountaineering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the summit, there is also Altar stone<\/strong>, which is reached via a green-marked footpath. About 250 metres from the summit stands a chapel dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, built near the Altar Stone in 2001. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New attractions at Lys\u00e1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Lys\u00e1 has also been developing as a destination for family and adventure tourism. In June 2026, a facility was opened near the summit\u00a0The \u010cergov Educational and Recreational Trail<\/a><\/strong>. The trail, approximately one kilometre long, winds through the forest and, through interactive elements, introduces visitors to the story of the shepherd \u010cergov, as well as local traditions and symbols, such as a shepherd\u2019s hut and a wolf\u2019s den.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lys\u00e1 pri Drienici is therefore an attractive destination for a day trip, combining a mountainous setting, panoramic views, hiking trails and year-round opportunities for active recreation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
