It is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the \u0160ari\u0161 region and offers sweeping views of almost the whole of Upper \u0160ari\u0161.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The view from the observation tower<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the viewing tower, there is a panoramic view of the Branisko, Bachure\u0148 and Str\u00e1\u017ee mountain ranges and <a href=\"https:\/\/pohoriecergov.sk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chergov<\/a>. On a clear day, you can even see part of the Spi\u0161 region, including the Pieniny Mountains. The hill is also popular with paragliders, who take off from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A spiritual place<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next to the viewing tower stands a tall cross, and nearby is a statue of Our Lady of Medjugorje, where visitors pause to pray or enjoy a moment of silence. Every year, a pilgrimage takes place here to mark the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The site is popular with families with children as well as people seeking peace and inner tranquillity. There is also a simple fire pit for barbecuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From the history of the hill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the Second World War, the Germans had trenches dug on the hill, but these were never actually used. Today, the hill is a peaceful spot for day trips and relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A trail leads to the viewing tower from the village of Kr\u00e1sna L\u00faka, starting on the left-hand side of St Martin\u2019s Church. The path is signposted \u2018\u010cierna kopa\u2019. Along the way, there is a mountain spring and a small well at the edge of the forest. From there, a dirt track continues all the way to the viewing tower, with some steeper sections in places. The route is approximately 3.7 km long and takes roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete.
