World Tourism Day<\/strong> We commemorate it every year on 27 September. In the \u0160ari\u0161 region, we celebrated it this year as early as Saturday 26 September 2026<\/strong>, namely at\u00a0\u0160ari\u0161 Castle,<\/a> where visitors to several events came together. The programme featured traditional cuisine, cultural performances, activities for families with children, and the announcement of the winners of the popular family-oriented quiz, LEGENDARIUM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event included\u00a0Cabbage Day<\/strong>, which took place at \u0160ari\u0161 Castle and in the archaeological park below the castle, as well as the ceremonial Results of the 11th LEGENDARIUM competition<\/strong>. In 2026, nearly 4,000 children took part in the scheme, visiting a total of 31,250 sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0160ari\u0161 Castle, one of the region\u2019s most significant historical landmarks, has thus become a meeting place for families and lovers of history, traditions and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n

OOCR \u0160ari\u0161 Region at Cabbage Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Regional Tourism Organisation Regi\u00f3n \u0160ari\u0161<\/strong> was present at the event as one of the partners. Visitors could meet us at our stand, where we showcased opportunities for trips and exploring the \u0160ari\u0161 region, represented by a member of staff Pre\u0161ov Region Tourist Information Centre,<\/strong> which served as a centre for distributing stickers and prizes to competition participants LEGENDARIUM<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following were available\u00a0promotional materials<\/strong> a suggestions for day trips<\/strong>, as well as activities for children and adults. Visitors were able to have a go at a crossword, a general knowledge quiz, colouring in pictures or a quiz focusing on words from the \u0160ari\u0161 dialect. They received small prizes and items from our merchandise range for taking part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to thank all the visitors who stopped by our stand and took part in the activities we had organised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabbage Day: Traditions and Regional Cuisine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cabbage Day brought to \u0160ari\u0161 Castle<\/a> and by archaeological park<\/a> In Ve\u013ek\u00fd \u0160ari\u0161, demonstrations of traditional cabbage preparation and tastings of regional dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She gave a presentation at the archaeological park processing of cabbage heads<\/strong> Ve\u013ek\u00fd \u0160ari\u0161 Pensioners\u2019 Association. At the castle, visitors were able to enjoy cabbage soup, traditional cabbage dumplings and stewed cabbage with roast potatoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme also included the official unveiling of the new castle furnace<\/strong> into operation. Fresh bread was then baked there, which visitors were able to taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event thus showcased traditional food preparation methods and the local culinary heritage, which forms an integral part of the culture of the \u0160ari\u0161 region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Results of the LEGENDARIUM competition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the family-friendly quiz LEGENDARIUM<\/a> The awards ceremony for its 11th edition took place. The competition, aimed at families with children under the age of 18, ran from 13 June to 13 September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost took part in this year's event 4,000 children<\/strong>, which they visited together as many as 31,250 locations<\/strong>. A total of 60 competitors received awards, with both main and supplementary prizes awaiting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top three winners received cash prizes from the competition\u2019s main partner, Decathlon. Other prizes included family weekend breaks, tickets to water parks and attractions, scooters and other rewards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEGENDARIUM<\/a> encourages families with children to explore interesting places Pre\u0161ov Region<\/a> and discover its natural, historical and cultural treasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A programme of events for children and adults alike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

World Tourism Day at the castle was made even more enjoyable by a mascot bearing his likeness \u017dofia Medov\u00e1<\/strong>, roaming freely the castle peacocks<\/strong>, giant puppets on stilts<\/strong> and the finale was not to be missed either kite-flying festival<\/strong>, to which many children brought kites, which were the final reward in Legendarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colleagues from OOCR High Tatras Podhorie<\/a>, an exhibition of children\u2019s favourite memories and drawings from Legendaria was on display, and the Donjon tower \u2013 which serves as the main landmark and viewing tower of \u0160ari\u0161 Castle \u2013 was also open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A varied cultural programme at the castle was organised by Portal Theatre<\/strong> with the play *The Golden Fish*, DFS \u0160ari\u0161an\u010dek<\/strong>, Spievankovo<\/strong> and there were also The \u0160ari\u0161 Gava\u013eires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors were able to walk through craft markets<\/strong> - demonstrations of honey products, traditional wire-working and herbalism, as well as the sale of flower wreaths; the extensive programme for children also included Searching for lost treasure with M\u00e1jka<\/strong> from Ham\u00e9 SK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u0160ari\u0161 region has plenty to offer in autumn too<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

World Tourism Day on \u0160ari\u0161 Castle<\/a> It combined a presentation of the region, local traditions, gastronomy and activities for families with children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following our summer activities, we\u2019re continuing to discover the interesting places and experiences that the \u0160ari\u0161 region has to offer in autumn too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
