On Saturday\u00a015 August 2026<\/strong>\u00a0took place a cycle trip from Pre\u0161ov to Sigord<\/a> v Slansk\u00e9 hills<\/a>. The event was aimed at cyclists who wanted to explore the local area Pre\u0161ov<\/a> a little differently \u2013 from the saddle of a bike, along a route through picturesque countryside Slansk\u00e9 hills<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip began in the morning at the Pre\u0161ov Bike Centre on Rus\u00ednska Street, where a get-together over coffee had been organised. The participants then set off on a journey of approximately\u00a0A 10-kilometre route along The Cycle-Railway<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0towards Sigord. The route had an elevation gain of approximately\u00a0125 metres<\/strong>\u00a0and, given its level of difficulty, was also suitable for less experienced cyclists.<\/p>\n\n\n

From Pre\u0161ov along the Cycle Railway<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the ride, participants were able to enjoy a more leisurely pace, woodland sections and the surrounding scenery\u00a0Slansk\u00e9 hills<\/strong>. The route offered a pleasant combination of exercise and exploring the countryside, gradually leading the cyclists out of the town and into the green surroundings of Sigord.<\/p>\n\n\n

Stop at the Vl\u00e1\u010dik rest area<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the interesting stops along the route was the new rest area Train<\/a><\/strong>, which provided a chance to take a short break during the cycle trip. Even these brief stops added a pleasant touch to the route and, at the same time, demonstrated that the area around the Cyklo\u017eelezni\u010dka is gradually developing as a destination for cyclists, tourists and families with children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ride, participants did not merely follow the route itself, but were also able to take in the surrounding natural environment and gradually familiarise themselves with the areas situated between Pre\u0161ov and Sigord.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Nature and History of Sigord<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On arrival at\u00a0Sigord<\/a>\u00a0The participants were treated to a break by the reservoir and a programme focusing on the area. The trip also included\u00a0Boat building at the Sigord shipyard<\/a>, which offered a pleasant way to cool off and a chance to take in the surrounding scenery from the surface of the reservoir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as relaxing, the participants learnt more about the history of Sigord, its current use and future potential<\/strong>. The site plays a significant role not only in the leisure lives of the residents of Pre\u0161ov and the surrounding area, but also in the wider story of the development of tourism and leisure activities in the Slansk\u00e9 Hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was accompanied by Ren\u00e1ta Kmecov\u00e1, Director of the Sigord Society<\/strong>, which gave participants an insight into the area, its history and its potential for further development.<\/p>\n\n\n

Exercise, nature and an experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cycling trip Pre\u0161ov \u2013 Sigord<\/strong> combined physical activity with exploring nature, history and leisure opportunities in the Slansk\u00e9 vrchy hills. From the start in Pre\u0161ov, via a ride along the Cyklo\u017eelezni\u010dka cycle path and a stop at the Vl\u00e1\u010dik rest area, right through to a boat trip at the Sigord boathouse, the event offered participants a varied programme and a pleasant way to spend an August morning away from the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was organised with financial support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n
