The tower will be freely accessible all year round without time limit and without charge.<\/strong><\/em>\n\nThe tower is freely accessible all year round without time limit and without charge.\n\n\u00a0\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/FOTO_STECNICKA_MAGURA_1-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24610 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FOTO_STECNICKA_MAGURA_1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1206\" height=\"1608\" \/><\/a>\n\n\u00a0\n\n<em>,\u201cThe newly built lookout tower on Stebn\u00edcka Magura resembles the so-called Berzewicz tower built in 1905 on the same site, which was destroyed during the First World War in 1918. The reconstructed and restored lookout tower will serve domestic and foreign visitors and the entire \u0160ari\u0161 region. It should bring further impetus to the development of tourism in the north-east of Slovakia. The total height to the top of the tower is 29,627 m, at a height of 21 m above the terrain there is an observation platform. The tower is unique of its kind in Slovakia, it has a reinforced concrete structure, a metal staircase and is one of the highest towers in the Pre\u0161ov region. To climb it, it is necessary to climb 104 steps,\"\u00a0<\/em>explains R.Jan\u010do\u0161ek.\n\n\u00a0\n<h3><strong>The replica tower reflects the original design<\/strong><\/h3>\nHe adds that they tried to make the replica of the Berzewicz tower as close to the original as possible. The project documentation was prepared by Jozef Cibu\u013ea. The contractor of the construction is PAVLI\u010cKO a partneri, s. r. o. The total investment of EUR 257 033,17 required own resources of OOCR \u201c\u0160ARI\u0160\"-Bardejov in the amount of EUR 17 693 and subsidy resources of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic in the amount of EUR 239 339. Thanks are also due to the individuals and tourism enthusiasts who contributed financially to the restoration of the tower in a public collection.\n\n<em>,\u201cThe construction has been in preparation for almost 3 years and its budget has increased due to inflation and the rising prices of building materials. The OOCR appealed to the general public, tourists and organisations to contribute to the construction of the Berzewicz Tower, each according to their means. Although these were not large sums, they are a symbol that citizens and legal entities also wanted to contribute to the improvement and restoration of the tower. The main thanks, however, go to the ministries that contributed the most to its financing. This year, the interior, staircase, railings and landscaping were completed. The restored tower will contribute to increased visitor numbers, both domestic and foreign, and will provide views of the whole region. It offers a magnificent view of the \u010cergov Mountains and, in good weather, the Tatra Mountains,\"\u00a0<\/em>added R.Jan\u010do\u0161ek.\n\n\u00a0\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FOTO_STECNICKA_MAGURA_13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24614 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FOTO_STECNICKA_MAGURA_13-300x227.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1193\" height=\"903\" \/><\/a>\n\n\u00a0\n<h3><strong>New dominant of the SNP Route<\/strong><\/h3>\nThe observation tower on Stebn\u00edcka Magura (899.9 m above sea level) is located near the current transmitter in the vicinity of Bardejovsk\u00e9 K\u00fapele (Bardejov Spa). It is located on the main tourist route - the Road of Heroes of the Slovak National Uprising. It is possible to reach the top of Stebn\u00edcka Magura by hiking trail from Bardejovsk\u00e9 K\u00fapele, Stebn\u00edk, Zborov and Zlat\u00fd.\n\n\u00a0\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FOTO_STECNICKA_MAGURA_14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24618 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/FOTO_STECNICKA_MAGURA_14-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1196\" height=\"897\" \/><\/a>\n\n\u00a0\n<h3><strong>History of the tower<\/strong><\/h3>\nThe first observation tower on this site was the Berzewicz Tower, named after the then Minister of Education and Religion of Austria-Hungary, Albert Berzewiczy (1853-1936, historian and politician). It was Berzewiczy who officially unveiled the statue of Empress Sisi in Bardejov Spa on 16 August 1903 and it was thanks to his efforts that the first wooden observation tower was built. It was destroyed in the last year of the First World War (1918).\n\nAlbert Berzeviczy was a historian and politician. From 1905 he was also the president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He was a member of the Carpathian Society and had a close relationship with his native \u0160ari\u0161, which he often visited. Since 1909, the local organisation of the UKS (Hungarian Carpathian Society) in Bardejov worked within the Pre\u0161ov section. Thanks to its efforts, a wooden observation tower was built.
