{"id":2138,"date":"2020-11-03T15:15:46","date_gmt":"2020-11-03T14:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/historia\/hrad-lipovec-mudrovce\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T10:47:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T09:47:25","slug":"hrad-lipovec-mudrovce","status":"publish","type":"historia","link":"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/en\/historia\/hrad-lipovec-mudrovce\/","title":{"rendered":"Lipovec Castle (Mudrovce)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lipovec Castle<\/strong> is situated in the western part\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/slanskevrchy.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slansk\u00e9 hills<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on a wooded, steep hill known locally as Varho\u0161ka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The castle was the administrative centre of the Lipovec estate, which already existed in 1229. The first written reference dates from 1282, where it appears under the name <strong>Sharp Stone<\/strong>. In 1543 the castle was conquered and damaged. Ambr\u00f3z Kecer of the Aba family, its owner, also perished in its defence. Subsequently, the castle was repaired by his son, but in 1567 it is already mentioned as demolished. It was completely destroyed by the followers of Jan Z\u00e1polsk\u00fd in 1591.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The appearance of the castle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lipovec Castle<\/strong> is about 35 metres long and 8 to 15 metres wide. The lower belt of the fortification protected the castle only from three sides, as the northern slope from the stream is very steep. The castle is surrounded by a lower wall measuring about 110 m and 60 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the top of the hill is a striking circular hollow. A defensive tower connected to the castle bridge probably stood on the top of the hill and protected the Lipovec castle from the eastern side.
