\u017dup\u010dany existed already before the 11th century and belongs to the oldest Slavic-Slovak villages, through which a non-mainland road led from \u0160ari\u0161 Castle to the village of Svinia in the direction of Spi\u0161. The village was later owned by the Hungarian kings. In the 15th and 16th centuries it became the property of the landowners of the \u0160o\u0161 family from Solivar. According to preserved historical documents, there was a church in the village as early as in the 13th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the centre of the village there is a manor house from the second half of the 19th century. The builders of the manor house were Imre Pu\u013esk\u00fd and his wife Theresa, the next owner was Gejza Pu\u013esk\u00fd and the last one who owned the manor house until the 40s of the 20th century was Imre Pu\u013esk\u00fd. The Pu\u013esk\u00fds were well-known landowners who also owned the forests in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The classicist manor house was built in the first half of the 19th century with a large park. It has a garden fa\u00e7ade with a central bay. Rizalit- projection is derived from the Italian word - risalto denoting a projection in a building. An interesting feature of the mansion is the portico, a columned hallway at the entrance to the mansion. It served as a place for the owners to get out of the carriage. Next to the manor house is a building that was used to house servants.
In the park around the manor there are many rare trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u017dup\u010dany is nowadays known mainly as the place of residence of the important Slovak writer, national awakener Jon\u00e1\u0161 Z\u00e1borsk\u00fd. It was in this village that most of his most famous literary works were written. His grave can be found in the grounds of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, where a rare stone baptismal font, which has been used in ceremonies for more than 150 years, is worth noticing. In the past, the building housed artefacts and documents relating to the work of this Slovak writer, as well as objects related to literary events in eastern Slovakia. These included books, period furniture and the piano on which \u0160tefan Moyzes used to play. All this is currently on display in exhibitions throughout the region. The local parish still holds several books that belonged to Jon\u00e1\u0161 Z\u00e1borsk\u00fd's personal library, many of which bear his signature or notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality's plan is to restore the manor house and create a memorial room and restore the fountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
