In the second half of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century lived the landowner Uz. In 1337, his son Jan inherited part of the hereditary estates of the Tekul family, landowners of Hungarian origin. J\u00e1n and J\u00e1n's sons lived in Uzovce and used the Hungarian name of the village in their surname around 1370. It is clear from the content of the documents that the village of Uzovce existed before 1370. Uzovce remained in the possession of the Uzovce landowners, descendants of the landowner Uz, in the 15th-16th centuries. They had curiosities in the village and probably in the first half of the 14th century they had a church built in the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first mentions of the manor house were as a manor house. The presumed noble residence from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, built in the style of a Renaissance manor house, was later rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Baroque modification of the original Renaissance mansion is evidenced by the preserved Baroque vaults in the north-western part of the building. The main (southern) fa\u00e7ade, however, testifies to a significant modification at the turn of the 19th-20th century in the historicist style. The manor house is a single-storey building with an irregular rectangular plan, incorporating a three-storey prismatic entrance tower and two corner two-storey towers of cylindrical (eastern tower) or prismatic shape (western tower). In the interior of the ground floor, the vaults have been preserved, ranging from the original vaults, through vaults from various periods of rebuilding, to the youngest flat ceilings. The oldest and most precious vault is preserved in the eastern cylindrical tower, which consists of a Renaissance dome with tracery, cresting and stucco decoration (rosettes). Most of the window and entrance openings have preserved original segmental-shaped shutters with sloping lining. Most of the decorative elements are preserved on the facades, especially on the main and southern facades. The fa\u00e7ade is divided horizontally by moulded cornices, banded rustication, vertically by a corner boss and pilasters. Above the openings of the tall central tower there are profiled pediments with stucco decoration and on the towers the openings under the roof have decorative architraves with pilasters and volutes. The building has a basement throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The manor house creates an interesting example of the elements of the historicist style used in the adaptation of older manor houses in eastern Slovakia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
