One of the attractive castle ruins is located above the village of Kamenica. Although only the remains of the walls and Renaissance fortifications are visible today, it remains one of the most attractive places where the history of Kamenick\u00fd hrad is connected with the interesting natural scenery of the \u010cergov Mountains. The castle lies on the western slopes of the \u010cergov and was built in the 13th century on a high limestone cliff above the village of Kamenica. It probably served as a royal hunting castle. At the beginning of the 16th century it was rebuilt into a Renaissance fortress, but in 1558 it was conquered and demolished by the troops of Emperor Ferdinand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ruins of Kamenica Castle, with the remains of its walls and Renaissance fortifications, offer a lovely view of the surrounding countryside and the \u010cergov ridge. The annual Night of the Castle Ruins and the summer Castle Festival have become popular events, featuring performances by historical fencing groups, fencing and archery groups, as well as pottery and basket-weaving demonstrations.
