At corner of Main and Levo\u010dsk\u00e1 Street<\/strong> stands one of the most beautiful buildings of Pre\u0161ov - Bosak's Bank<\/strong>. This Art Nouveau gem<\/strong> was built in the years 1923 - 1924<\/strong> Like representative building of the financial institute<\/strong>. At first glance, it impresses domes on the corners<\/strong> a rich sculptural decoration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n At front facade<\/strong> you can admire the allegorical figures with names Peace and Love, Abundance, Thrift and Science<\/strong>. The rear part of the building, facing today's Levo\u010da Street<\/strong>, is decorated sculptural representation of the four seasons<\/strong> and underneath them reliefs of a steamboat, steam locomotive and an airplane<\/strong> - symbols of progress and development in the first half of the 20th century.<\/p>\n The building bears the name Michal Bos\u00e1k<\/strong>, a native of the nearby village of Okr\u00fahle near Pre\u0161ov<\/strong>, who, after emigrating to the USA, became successful American banker<\/strong>. In America he owned several banks<\/strong> and was also active in boards of directors of prestigious financial institutions<\/strong>, such as Bank of Europe in New York<\/strong> or First National Bank v Olyphante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The interesting thing is that his signature appears on the American dime<\/strong>, that his bank could issue with the approval of the US government. Michal Bos\u00e1k was also an important personality of Slovak history<\/strong> \u2013 On 30 May 1918 he signed the Pittsburgh Agreement<\/strong>, which guaranteed the autonomy of Slovakia<\/strong> in the next Czecho-Slovakia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n After returning to his homeland, he founded the 1920 American-Slovak Bank in Bratislava<\/strong>, which had nine branches<\/strong>, including that in Pre\u0161ov<\/strong> - in this very building.<\/p>\n Today it is Bosak's Bank<\/strong> not only architectural landmark of the town<\/strong>, but also a symbol of the success of a native who connected America with Slovakia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It is currently entering its history Pre\u0161ov Self-Governing Region (PSK)<\/strong>, which bought an 80 per cent co-ownership stake<\/strong> in this important building.
