Roztoky Observatory

The darkest sky in the Šariš region, a place without light smog and full of divine peace.

Have you ever heard of the municipality of Roztoky? If so, you are probably from the Šariš region and live around Svidník. If not, then be sure to visit this peculiar municipality in NW Slovakia, 17 km west of Svidník. Roztoky is located in the heart of beautiful nature – dense, deciduous forests and a large number of meadows make it a perfect place for the district observatory. It is no coincidence that the observatory was built in the municipality almost nobody knows about. The reason is simple – the darkest sky in Central Europe with almost no light smog. The Roztoky Observatory is a detached workplace of the Podduklianske Education Center in Svidník offering night sky observations, field trips, lectures, observations of the Sun and other stellar objects. The Roztoky Observatory also organizes various scientific events. Book accommodation directly with the observatory, visit the House of Folk Housing, cycle along the bike path to the border with Poland and discover a place where you can finally connect with nature, culture and history and enjoy yourself to the fullest.
