A meadow full of irises. Mirkovská iris meadow was declared a nature reserve in 1979. It is a torso of the wetland habitat of the Košice Basin preserved as a narrow border surrounded by agricultural land.
The 11,394 square meters of the protected habitat of the Siberian iris stabilizes this intensively used agricultural land and provides a refuge for many protected species of plants and animals, e.g. Crex crex. The meadow is a home to fauna and flora communities (the Siberian iris (Iris sibirica) typical for wet meadows landscapes. The meadow also serves for scientific and research purposes.
